Aluminium Wall Shelf with Towel Rail and 5 Sliding Hooks

$34.99
Width

Fits if: a wall above a counter, beside the stove or in a corner. Spice jars, tins, oil bottles and mugs on the tray; utensils, tea towels and a paper roll on the rail. 11.8 in for a tight corner, 23.6 in for a full run of jars

Not for: a cast iron pan, a stockpot or a case of drinks - this is for jars and light tools. Textured or papered walls, where the plate will not sit flat. Outdoors, or on a shower wall. A wall you cannot wipe clean first

Size: choose 11.8, 15.7, 19.7 or 23.6 in (30, 40, 50 or 60 cm) wide. 5.3 in (13.5 cm) deep and 4.3 in (11 cm) tall including the rail. 19.8 oz, 22.5 oz, 28 oz and 33.9 oz (560, 637, 793 and 960 g)

The wall above the counter was doing nothing

Our spice jars lived in the cupboard. Every time I cooked I opened the door, slid the front row out of the way, dug for the cumin, then put it all back. The whole time I was staring at a bare wall two feet above the counter.

This shelf goes on that wall. It hangs off a wall plate - nothing gets drilled, which is the only reason I was allowed to put one up in a rented flat. The plate goes on first, the shelf lifts onto it. When the shelf needs a wash you lift it straight off.

The top is a shallow tray with a raised front edge, so jars sit inside it and stay put when you pull one out. Underneath is a rail with five S hooks that slide left and right - bunch them up for ladles, or spread them out for a whisk, a spatula and a strainer, instead of being stuck with fixed holes. There is a second bar behind the hooks for the paper roll and a tea towel.

Four widths: 11.8, 15.7, 19.7 and 23.6 inches. The 11.8 inch one squeezes into the corner beside the stove; the 23.6 inch one runs the full length of a wall of jars. Aluminium with a matte gunmetal grey finish, so it does not rust and it does not show fingerprints the way polished metal does.

Straight talk: this is for jars and light tools. A cast iron pan, a stockpot or a case of drinks is not what it is for. And before you put the plate up, make sure the wall is flat and wipe it down - on a textured or papered wall the plate will not sit flat.

What you get: the shelf, the wall plate, five sliding hooks and the towel rail. Pick your width.

Worth it for the corner

Squeezed the 15.7 inch into the dead corner beside my fridge where nothing else fit. Spices on top, utensils hanging below, paper roll on the back bar. My counter has never looked this clear.

Great once I cleaned the wall

First attempt the plate slid because I skipped wiping the wall down. Cleaned it properly and it has not moved since. The shelf holds my tea tins and a towel and looks tidy. Just do the prep step.

Install took ten minutes

Wiped the wall, stuck the plate, let it sit, lifted the shelf on. That was it. I put mugs on the tray and my strainers on the hooks and it all feels secure. Nice not drilling into a rental.

Fine shelf, wish it was deeper

The 5.3 inch depth is accurate but my taller olive oil bottle tips against the back plate. Shorter jars are totally fine and it looks clean. I would just measure your tallest bottle before committing.

Perfect for a tiny galley

My kitchen is basically a hallway, so the 11.8 inch shelf over the sink was the only spot left. Paper towel bar behind the hooks is genius, saves me a countertop holder. No rust after a couple months of sink splashes.

Holds jars, not cookware

I got the 23.6 inch expecting to hang a small pot and it did not love the weight, which the listing does tell you. Sticking with spice jars and mugs it has been great. Just read the size notes before you buy.

Color matches my kitchen

I was worried the grey would look cheap in photos but in person it is a proper matte gunmetal, not shiny at all. It reads almost dark charcoal next to my stainless appliances. Fingerprints just do not show on this finish.

Bought a second one

Liked the 11.8 inch so much in the corner by the stove that I ordered the 23.6 inch for the long wall over the coffee station. The matte gunmetal matches between both and neither shows smudges. Two shelves, zero complaints.

Nice but keep it light

I loaded it with a cast iron skillet on the tray at first and it flexed, so I moved that down. Once I stuck to jars and bottles it has been rock solid. The description warns you about this and they were not kidding.

Sliding hooks are the point

My old rack had fixed holes and my whisk never fit between them. Here I bunch three hooks together for utensils and leave two spaced out for the tea towel. Small thing but it actually matters day to day.

Works but walls matter

The shelf itself is solid and the finish is nice. My problem is my wall is textured so the plate never sat completely flat and I could feel it wobble. I ended up moving it to a smooth section in the pantry and it is fine there.

Measured twice, fit once

I checked my wall gap twice before ordering and the 19.7 inch slid in with about half an inch to spare. Holds my whole row of tins and the paper towel roll behind the hooks. No rust spots after two months near the stove steam.

Good shelf, hooks run small

The 19.7 inch fits my corner perfectly and the matte grey looks nicer than I expected. My only gripe is the S hooks are a bit thin for my bigger ladle, so I hung that elsewhere. Spices and a small strainer hang fine.

Renter approved, no holes

My lease forbids wall damage so this was the compromise. The plate sits flat on my smooth painted wall and the shelf lifts right off. I wash it in the sink about once a month and it goes back on without fuss.

Sturdy for jars, as advertised

Mounted this beside the stove in a narrow gap that was dead space. The tray lip keeps jars from sliding when I grab the cumin. I tested it with a heavy jar of honey and no sag after three weeks.

Finally freed up my counter

We rent so drilling was a no-go, and the wall plate went up in about five minutes with the adhesive strips. I got the 15.7 inch and it holds six spice jars plus my oil bottle. The hooks slide so I put my spatulas on one end and the tea towel on the other.
