The rod you only think about twice

Once when you fit it, and once when you move out and look at the four holes you left in the tile.

This one presses. You hold the outer tube against one wall, pull the inner tube out until the far end touches the other wall, and let the spring take it from there. Nothing is drilled. Take it down and the tiles are exactly as they were, which matters more if the place is not yours.

It is 1.26 inches across, matte black. That is thick enough to read as plumbing rather than as a length of plastic, and the tube carries a row of round adjustment holes so you can see where the length sits when you set it. Three lengths: 43.3 to 63 inches, 63 to 82.7, and 82.7 to 102.4.

The maker rates it at 90 kg, spread along the tube rather than hung off one point. That number is meant for a rod doing closet work with shirts on it, so read it that way rather than as a pull up bar.

Two things to get right. Measure the opening first and buy the length that covers it - too short and it will not reach, far too long and there is not enough inner tube left inside the outer one. Then look at the wall. The end pads hold by pressing, so they want something solid: flat tile, plaster, wood. On soft or crumbling plaster they sink in instead of gripping.

What you get: one rod with the end pads on it. The curtain and the rings are not in the box.

Measured wrong, my fault

My opening is 104 inches and I bought the longest size thinking it would stretch. It did not reach and there was not enough overlap left anyway. The rod itself felt solid, I just should have measured before ordering. Buy the length that actually covers your opening.

Spring is stiff, took some muscle

No drilling and it grips great once it is up. Getting it there took more force than I expected because the spring is strong, and I am not a small guy. If you have weak grip or a really wide opening, get someone to help you press it in.

Good for light curtains only

I put this over a window with a lightweight linen curtain and it has been flawless for two months. I tried it with a heavier thermal panel and it started to feel like a lot of pressure on the springs, so I moved that one back to a bracket. Fine for what it is.

Works well but pads mark soft paint

Holds my shower curtain without any slipping, and install was maybe three minutes. On my painted drywall the end pads left a small dark ring where they press. It wiped off mostly but I would use it on tile or wood instead if you can.

Great rod, wish it came with rings

The rod is sturdy and went in fast on my tile shower. My only complaint is that I had to make a second trip for curtain rings since nothing is included. Not a big deal but worth knowing before you order.

No rings or curtain included, still great

Just so people know, the box is literally one rod with the pads. You need your own curtain, rings, and liner. That said the rod itself is sturdy and the matte black is exactly what I wanted for the spare bathroom.

Solid grip on plaster walls

My building has old plaster and I was worried the pads would sink in. They did not. It has been holding a heavy blackout curtain in the bedroom for almost three months with no sagging. Just make sure the wall is actually solid before you trust it.

Took it down and the tile was clean

I had to move out of my rental last month and pulled this off the tile expecting some kind of residue. Nothing. The pads just left a faint ring I wiped off in two seconds. That alone made the price worth it versus patching holes.

Black matches my matte fixtures

Every piece of hardware in my bathroom is matte black and this rod actually matches instead of being shiny or slightly off. The finish has not chipped or flaked after two months of daily showers. Looks intentional, not like a cheap fix.

Holds a full rod of closet clothes

I was skeptical of the 90 kg rating but I loaded it with about thirty shirts and a few jackets spread along the whole tube and it has been fine for over a month. Read it as a closet rod, not a pull up bar, and you will be happy. The spring tension is strong.

Install took less than a minute

Held one end against the tile, pulled the inner tube out, and it just stuck. I did not even need the instructions. Coming from a rod that needed brackets and anchors, this was a nice change.

Bought a second one for the laundry room

First one went over the shower and worked so well I picked up another for hanging clothes in the laundry room between the two walls. Same solid grip on both. The end pads have not left any marks on the tile or the drywall paint.

Measured first and it fit perfectly

My closet opening is 71 inches so I grabbed the 63 to 82.7 size and it went in with plenty of overlap left on the inner tube. Loaded about twenty button-downs and some jeans on it and it has not moved in two months. I like that the adjustment holes let you see where you actually set it.

Thick matte black looks like real hardware

Ordered the mid size for a guest bathroom window after the flimsy white rod from the hardware store kept sagging. The 1.26 inch tube actually has some weight to it and the matte black matches my faucet and towel bar. No bowing at all and I check it every week out of habit.

No holes, no landlord drama

I rent a 1920s apartment with original tile in the bathroom and my lease specifically says no new holes. This rod pressed in tight on the first try and has held my heavy waffle-weave shower curtain plus a liner for about six weeks now with zero slip. Took me maybe two minutes to install.

Fine on tile, slipped on old plaster

On my bathroom tile it holds a shower curtain perfectly. I tried the same rod in the hallway on a crumbly plaster wall and the pads sank in a bit and it dropped after a day. Works if your wall is solid, so check first. Fair for the price.
