Not for: a sink wider than 17.3 in across the opening. A raised rim or a bevelled edge, where the silicone ends will not sit flat. Leaving it in standing water for days at a time. A loaded roasting tin or a stack of cast iron

Where the rack used to live

For three years the drying rack sat on our counter. Wet or dry, it was there. It took the whole right half of the counter, which meant every time I chopped an onion I did it in whatever space was left over. And the sink was right there, empty, most of the day.

This is the rack that uses the sink instead. It is a sheet of square stainless tubes held together by silicone edging at each end, so it rolls up like a mat. Unroll it across the sink and you have a full drying area over the basin - plates stand between the tubes, glasses and mugs sit on top. Water goes straight into the sink instead of pooling on the counter.

When you are done, roll it up. It ends up about as thick as a rolled magazine and it goes in a drawer, so the counter is clear again. Nothing to install and nothing to bolt down - the silicone edges simply rest on the counter edges either side of the sink.

Three depths: 8.9, 11.6 and 14.6 inches, all 17.3 inches across. The 8.9 inch one is for a few plates at a time; the 14.6 inch one takes the whole evening's washing up. The tubes are 304 stainless and the edging is heat resistant, so a hot pan straight off the stove will not hurt it.

Two things to check before you order. Measure your sink across the opening - if that gap is wider than 17.3 inches this one is too short. And both counter edges need to sit level and at the same height, because the silicone ends rest flat on them. A raised rim or a bevelled edge and it will not sit properly.

Bevelled edge was a problem

The rack itself seems well made and rolls up tight. But my sink has a bevelled counter edge so the silicone ends don't sit flat and it wobbles when I put a heavy bowl on it. On a level counter I think it would be great, mine just isn't.

Fine, but don't leave it wet

It does what it says and the steel is good quality. My issue is that I left it sitting over a damp sink for a few days and the silicone edges started looking cloudy and a bit grimy where they meet the counter. Needs to be dried and put away, not left in place.

Good for small loads only

I went with the 8.9 inch depth thinking it would be enough and it's fine for a few plates and glasses. But when I do a big dinner I'm stacking things and it gets crowded. If you cook a lot, get the deeper one.

Solid, but I have to dry the ends

No complaints about the rack itself, it's sturdy and rolls up neatly. My only gripe is that if I leave it out overnight the silicone ends hold a little water where they meet the counter. A quick wipe fixes it, just a small extra step I didn't expect.

Wish it came a touch wider

I measured my sink at 17 inches and figured 17.3 was close enough. It fits but there's barely any overhang on the sides, so it feels like it's perched. Still does the job and drains great, I'd just size up in depth next time.

Great, but check your rim

Works well and dries fast, but my sink has a slight raised lip on one side so the silicone end doesn't sit perfectly flat there. It still holds fine, just rocks a hair if I bump it. Measure your counter edges before ordering, they weren't kidding.

Mugs and bowls, no puddles

I mostly use it for mugs, bowls and the kids' cups after school. Everything drains into the sink so I'm not wiping the counter every night. The silicone ends grip the counter edge so it doesn't slide when I set something down.

Whole evening's dishes fit

I cook for four so I went with the 14.6 inch depth and it takes everything from one dinner plus the pots. Plates stand between the bars, bowls go upside down over them. Sink is empty underneath the whole time which still feels weird.

Glasses sit on top just fine

Wasn't sure how stable wine glasses would be but they balance on the tubes without wobbling. Water drips straight into the basin instead of puddling under a drying mat like before. My counter has stayed dry for three weeks now.

Bought a second for the RV

Liked the first one so much I ordered another for our camper sink. It stores flat when we're driving and sets up in two seconds at the campground. The 8.9 inch depth is perfect for that small basin.

Rolls up thinner than I expected

When I'm done I roll it and it slides into the drawer next to my sheet pans, about the thickness of a magazine like they said. Nothing to install, the silicone ends just sit on the counter edges. I got the 11.6 depth for a normal load of plates and cups.

Hot pan did not bother it

Pulled a cast iron skillet off the stove and set it right on the tubes without thinking. No warping, no melted silicone, nothing. The 304 steel feels like actual metal rather than coated wire, which is what my last one was.

Finally cleared my tiny counter

My apartment kitchen has maybe two feet of usable counter and the old plastic rack ate half of it. This rolls right over the sink opening, plates stand up between the tubes, and by dinner everything's dry. I measured 16.5 inches across and the 17.3 fits with a little room to spare.
