The half inch thickness is honest to the listing and it does cushion the machine. I just expected it to feel a bit more substantial for the price. Everything else, the ridges, the grip, the easy rinse, all checks out and I would buy again.
I was worried about coffee oils staining the grey but a wipe with dish soap brings it right back. Used it daily since I got it and no discoloration, no cracking. The non-slip back has not lost its grip either.
Does the job for drips and cups and the material feels durable. But my machine is heavy and the pad squishes down at the corners so the whole thing looks slightly bowed. Fine for a lighter setup, maybe less ideal for a big dual boiler.
Liked it so much at my apartment that I got the same straight ribbed black set for the house my parents stay in. Their old mat was fabric and always damp. This one wipes clean and the machine half handles the drip tray overflow fine.
Rinsing the ribbed half is way less annoying than laundering a towel every couple days. That part is great. My knock box is a little wide though so the 15.7 inch width is snug and I had to rearrange things to make it fit.
My counter space is tiny so I needed something that did double duty. The split means the drying half sits right where I set cups down and the machine half stays put. It reads as one continuous mat which makes the corner look way tidier.
Went with black because I was worried grey would show coffee splatter. It does hide mess well and the texture cleans up with a damp cloth. Only thing is the two halves do not lock together, so if you bump one it shifts a half inch.
I set a mug straight off a fresh pour over on it and no mark, no smell. The silicone has a nice weight to it, not that flimsy stuff that slides around. Survived six weeks of my husband slopping water everywhere.
Functionally it does what it says, drips stay off my butcher block and cleanup is a rinse. My issue is the corners of the drying half have a slight upward curl after a month, so the pad does not sit totally flat. Not a dealbreaker but it bugs me when I load cups.
I was skeptical the raised ridges would make a real difference but my espresso cups come out dry on the bottom now instead of sitting in a ring of water. Portafilter rests on it fine too. Setup took me maybe two minutes including finding the right spot.
I only bought the machine pad size since I already had something for cups. It is 15.7 by 23.6 and swallows the whole footprint of my Gaggia plus the knock box. Counter underneath is bone dry after three weeks of daily use.
Quality is solid and the ridges do keep my mugs from sitting in a puddle. My only gripe is the drying pad is 7.4 inches deep and my two biggest latte bowls hang off the front edge. Would be nice if there was a deeper option.
Liked the first one enough that I grabbed another for my desk setup at work. The wave texture is subtle and the black hides coffee stains way better than the light mat I had before. Non-slip base actually holds, my machine does not creep when I tamp.
My old setup was a folded dish towel and a cheap foam mat, and the towel always smelled sour after a few days. This has no fabric so there is nothing to wring out or stink up. I rinse the ribbed half in the sink about once a week and that is it.
Measured my counter nook first and the 2-in-1 set at 15.7 by 23.6 landed with maybe a quarter inch to spare. It tucks between the wall and the sink and the whole coffee area finally looks intentional. Grey matches my cabinets better than I expected.
I have a Breville Barista Express and the constant puddle under it drove me nuts. The solid half catches all the drips and the ribbed half holds my cups so they actually dry. Lifting just the drying side to rinse it without touching the machine is exactly what I needed.
