Wire over-the-toilet shelf resting on the tank lid, holding tissues and reed diffusers

Over-the-Toilet Shelf, No-Drill SUS 304 Stainless Rack, 13.8 or 15.7 in Wide

$25.99
Size

Fits if: the flat top of a standard toilet tank, 13.8 to 15.7 in (35 to 40 cm) wide - measure the lid before ordering

Not for: tanks with the flush button on the lid itself, or for lids narrower than 13.8 in (35 cm)

Size: compact 13.8 x 5.9 x 4.7 in (35 x 15 x 12 cm); Wide 15.7 x 5.9 x 4.7 in (40 x 15 x 12 cm)

The bottles have nowhere to go. The tank lid is right there.

Most over-the-toilet storage is a 60-inch tower that stands on the floor, leans on adhesive pads, and gets top-heavy the moment you load the top shelf. This one skips all of that. It sits on the tank lid, mounts with no drilling, and keeps everything within arm's reach of the seat.

Because it is only 4.7 in tall, the centre of gravity stays low. Nothing to anchor into the wall, nothing to tip over when someone bumps it in the dark.

Why it works

  • SUS 304 stainless, not painted carbon steel - the bathroom is the worst room in the house for metal. Steam, splashes, and cleaner spray all sit on the surface. 304 stainless handles that without the coating flaking off the way powder-coated carbon steel does.
  • No-drill mount, renter-safe - adhesive pads hold it; a screw kit is in the box if you own the place and would rather fix it permanently.
  • Raised rails front and back - tall shampoo bottles stand up instead of leaning into each other.
  • Open base, no standing water - the hollow frame lets water drain and air move, so nothing sits wet.
  • Two widths - measure your tank lid first and pick the one that clears the flush button.

Size

Compact: 13.8 x 5.9 x 4.7 in (35 x 15 x 12 cm), 1.1 lb (500 g)
Wide: 15.7 x 5.9 x 4.7 in (40 x 15 x 12 cm), 1.3 lb (600 g)

Measure the flat top of your tank before ordering. If your flush button sits on the lid itself rather than the tank, check the clearance first.

Good for light stuff only

Looks sharp and the stainless seems durable after a couple months. My problem is I tried to put a big gallon jug of cleaner on it and it's just too shallow for that, the jug tips forward. For smaller bottles it's totally fine. Just know its limits and you'll be happy with it.

Nice but didn't fit my tank

This is on me, I ordered before measuring. My tank lid is only about 13 inches across so the compact overhangs on both sides and looks off. The shelf quality is good and I'm keeping it on a shelf in the closet instead. Just measure your lid first, seriously.

Sturdy but the rails are lower than I pictured

Holds my shampoo and body wash without issue and it's clearly well made stainless. I'd say the front and back rails are a bit shorter than I imagined, so a really tall bottle can lean if you load it wrong. Rearrange it and it's fine. Overall happy for the price.

Solid build, adhesive needs prep

The shelf itself is great, no complaints on the metal or the fit. Heads up though, you have to clean the tank lid really well before sticking the pads down or they won't grab. First try it shifted on me, wiped it with alcohol, then it held fine. Read the guide.

Works well, wish it were a touch deeper

It holds everything I need and the no-drill mount is rock solid. The one thing is the 5.9 inch depth, so my biggest pump bottle hangs over the front edge a little. It hasn't fallen but I notice it. For normal sized bottles it's a non-issue.

Good shelf, tight on my narrow tank

Quality is solid and the stainless finish looks clean. My only gripe is my tank lid is right at 14 inches so the compact barely fits and the wide would've overhung. Fit is fine once it's settled but there's basically no wiggle room. Measure carefully, they mean it.

Took the clutter off the floor

My husband kept stacking magazines and reading glasses on the back of the toilet and they'd always fall. Now there's a real shelf there. He put his phone and glasses on it and nothing slides off onto the floor anymore. Simple but it solved an everyday annoyance.

Holds the heavy stuff fine

I was worried a shelf this shallow would dump my economy size shampoo. Nope. The back rail catches it and it stands straight. I've got maybe eight pounds of stuff on it and the base hasn't shifted a millimeter. Good weight distribution.

Bought a second for the guest bath

Liked the first one enough that I ordered another for the guest bathroom a couple weeks later. Same deal, sits on the tank, holds the extra towels and a candle. It's low profile so it doesn't make the room feel smaller like those tall tower racks do.

Open base actually matters

I had a solid-bottom plastic caddy before and water would pool in the bottom and get gross. This one is a hollow frame so water just drains through. The bottles don't sit in a puddle anymore. Small thing but it makes a difference in a humid bathroom.

Assembled in like three minutes

Honestly expected some fiddly instruction sheet. There wasn't much to it, just peel and stick the pads and set it on the tank. I used the screw kit anyway because I own the house and wanted it permanent. Whole thing took me maybe five minutes with a screwdriver.

Kid's bathroom stays organized now

My kids share a bathroom and their stuff was everywhere. I put this on the tank and now the bubble bath and their little cups live there. Low enough that my seven year old can reach everything. No tipping even when they bump it getting off the toilet.

Stainless was the right call

Last shelf I had was powder coated steel and it started rusting at the corners within four months. This one is real stainless, you can tell by the weight and the finish. Been sitting in a steamy bathroom for two months now, no spots, no flaking. Worth the few extra bucks.

Measured first, fit perfect

I read the listing twice because I've been burned by over-the-toilet stuff before. My tank lid is 14.5 inches so I went with the wide one. It clears the flush button on the tank with room to spare. Sturdy little thing, no wobble when I set stuff down on it.

Renter friendly and it actually looks nice

I'm in an apartment and can't drill anything, so the adhesive mount sold me. Loaded it with two big shampoo bottles, conditioner, and a bottle of scrubbing bubbles. The raised rails keep everything from sliding. Pulled it up once to check the pads and they were still stuck tight after a month.

Finally somewhere for the bottles

We have a tiny half bath and the floor around the toilet was just covered in shampoo and cleaner bottles. This sits right on the tank lid and holds all of it. Took me about two minutes to stick the pads on and set it down. Nothing has moved since.
