Slim rice dispenser on a pale kitchen counter beside a white cabinet, filled with rice

Fits if: a gap about 7.3 in wide or more - the body is 6.9 in deep. Sits on a counter, a pantry shelf or the floor of a low cupboard. Holds about 11 lb (5 kg) of rice

Not for: not an airtight vacuum canister - the maker lists it as moisture and insect resistant only. No wall mount, no suction cup, no tape: it stands on its own. Dry grains only, no hot food or liquids. Not listed as dishwasher safe, so wash the tray by hand. This listing is the 11 lb size, not the taller 22 lb version

Size: 12.1 in wide, 6.9 in deep, 10.5 in tall (30.8 x 17.5 x 26.6 cm). The maker measures by hand, so allow a small tolerance either way

Load: holds about 11 lb (5 kg) of rice

The bag tips over. Every single time.

You buy rice in a big sack, fold the top over, and stand it on the shelf. Then someone reaches past it and the whole thing goes down. Rice on the shelf, rice in the gap behind the cupboard, rice on the floor.

This one is a box with a button. Fill it, press the button, rice drops into the little tray at the bottom. That is the entire routine. No scooping out of a bag, no bag.

Narrow on purpose

The front is 12.1 in wide and 10.5 in tall, but the side is only 6.9 in deep. That last number is the one that decides anything: it means the body slides into the gap beside the fridge, or between the counter and the cupboard, where a round bin has never fitted. It is the measurement we put in the title because it is the one people ask about.

A window runs down the front so you can see how low you are before you start cooking. On the translucent version the whole front panel shows the level. On the solid version the window strip is still there, you just see less through it.

What the button actually does

Press the round button on the lower housing and the tray fills. Pull the tray out by its wire handle and tip the rice straight into the pot. It holds about 11 lb (5 kg) of rice, which in a two or three person kitchen is a couple of weeks.

The maker seals it and lists it as moisture and insect resistant. That is their wording and I am passing it on as written. It is not a vacuum jar and I am not going to describe it as one.

Small things worth knowing

A measuring cup comes in the box. The tray and the body wipe clean with a damp cloth. The maker does not list it as dishwasher safe, so I would keep it out of one.

What you get: one rice dispenser and one measuring cup. Pick the translucent front or the solid front. Same 11 lb size, same 12.1 x 6.9 x 10.5 in footprint, same price.

Second one for the basement pantry

I liked the first one enough that I bought a second for our basement pantry where we keep bulk rice. The sealed design keeps the humidity out down there which was always a problem with open bags. Both units have been running smoothly for weeks. The narrow shape stacks nicely next to other bins.

Solid build, tray handle is thin

The body is sturdy and the seal keeps rice fresh, no complaints there. The wire handle on the tray is a little thin and I worry it might bend over time if I'm not careful. It hasn't bent yet after a month of daily use so maybe it's fine. Overall a good buy for the price.

Good for grains beyond rice

I'm using this for quinoa and farro as well as rice and it handles all of them without clogging. The tray fills evenly and the button never jams. The narrow profile means it fits between my stand mixer and the wall. The measuring cup is basic but it works.

Measured wrong, my fault

The product is fine but I measured my cabinet gap wrong and it doesn't fit where I wanted it. The 6.9 inch depth is accurate, my gap is just 6.5. It's sitting on the counter instead which works but isn't what I planned. Function wise it's solid, just double check your space.

No scooping, no mess

I used to keep rice in a big plastic tub and scoop it out with a cup, which always ended with rice on the counter. This dispenser solved that completely. Press the button, pull the tray, tip it in the pot. The sealed body keeps moisture out and I haven't seen a single bug since I switched.

Translucent front is the way to go

I ordered the translucent front version and I'm glad I did. Being able to see the rice level from across the kitchen means I never get surprised mid recipe. The 12.1 inch width fits my shelf perfectly and the 6.9 inch depth means it doesn't stick out. Dumping the tray into the rice cooker is mess free.

Great but lid seal could be tighter

The dispenser does its job and the rice stays dry, but the lid doesn't snap down with a super tight seal. I can hear a little air movement when I press it. It's listed as moisture resistant not airtight so I knew that going in. Still a big upgrade from a rolled up bag.

My wife actually likes it

I bought this mostly to stop the rice bag from falling over and my wife was skeptical. Now she uses it every day and says the measuring cup is her favorite part. The one press button is simple enough that our teenager can use it without making a mess. Sits on the counter next to the coffee maker.

Sturdy after two months

I've had this for about eight weeks now and it's held up great. The mat pp material feels solid and the button still springs back like new. I was worried the tray would get sticky over time but a damp cloth wipes it clean. Holds a full bag of short grain rice with no issues.

Works well, wish it was bigger

The 11 lb capacity is accurate and the button mechanism is smooth. I just wish they made a larger version because I go through rice fast. Still, it keeps the rice sealed and insect free which was my main concern. The translucent front is worth the extra few dollars over the solid.

Perfect for small kitchens

My kitchen is tiny and I had zero counter space left. This slid into the narrow gap next to my stove and I don't even notice it's there until I need rice. The front window strip on the solid version is enough to see the level. No more hauling a heavy bag out of the cupboard.

Good but tray is small

The dispenser works fine and the rice stays fresh, but the tray only holds about one cup at a time. For a family of four I'm pressing the button three or four times per meal. It's not broken, it's just slower than scooping from a bag. The build quality seems decent for the price though.

Bought a second one for flour

I bought the translucent version for rice and liked it so much I ordered another for all purpose flour. The sealed lid keeps the flour from clumping in my humid kitchen. Both sit side by side on the pantry shelf and the narrow footprint means they don't eat up the whole shelf. The measuring cup that comes with it is a nice touch.

Solid but not dishwasher safe

Works exactly as described, the one press tray fills up nice and even. My only gripe is that the maker doesn't list it as dishwasher safe so I'm hand wiping the tray every time. It's not a deal breaker but it's a little extra work. Holds a full 11 lb bag of basmati with a bit of room left.

No more rice on the floor

My old setup was a 20 lb bag folded over on the pantry shelf and it tipped at least once a week. This thing just sits there and I press the button and rice comes out. The tray holds enough for a big pot and the wire handle makes it easy to dump in. Took me about two minutes to figure out the button mechanism.

Fits the gap perfectly

I measured the gap between my fridge and counter three times before ordering and it slid right in with room to spare. The 6.9 inch depth is the whole reason I bought this over a round bin. I keep jasmine rice in it and the translucent front means I can see when I'm running low without pulling it out.
