Where does the wet washing go

In a flat with no balcony and no dryer, it goes on a chair. Then on the radiator. Then back on the chair, because it never quite dried.

A floor rack is the obvious fix until you put one up. It stands in the only bit of floor you have, and you walk around it for the rest of the day.

This one lives on the wall. Pull the arm out, hang the washing, push it back and it sits flat against the tile. The whole thing is about the depth of a soap dish when it is folded.

The arm opens to 22 inches (56 cm) of rail. There are slots along it for hangers and hooks for socks, tea towels, a wet bra. I hang shirts straight out of the machine on hangers and let them drip over the bath.

Two mounting kits come in the box, and you only use one. Screws and plugs if your wall is plaster or painted board. The adhesive kit if it is tile and you would rather not put holes in a rental. Pick one, keep the spare for the next move.

The arm is aluminium, the base plate is stainless, so a wet towel sitting on it is not going to leave a rust line down your wall. Grey or white, both are a matte finish.

One thing to check before you order. The plate needs a flat surface. Wallpaper, peeling paint or rough stone will not hold it, and no adhesive on the market fixes that.

What you get: one folding rack with a 22 inch arm, one screw kit, one adhesive kit.
